Welcome to the Lone Star State

Today we said goodbye to Louisiana and hello to Texas!!!! The morning started out nice. The roads had minimal traffic and the scenery was beautiful as always. I rode with Tiffany and Kelly for the first part of the morning and then we picked up Prachi and Christina and even rode with Corey for a little while. The roads were tree covered and so so beautiful. It reminded me of the park back home which always makes me happy. Right before the state line we came across a sign that read "Dream No Small Dream" We all stopped to take pictures and as everyone was getting their shots I realized that on Bike & Build anything is possible!!! Each and every person has goals and dreams and they are dedicated to making them come true. Not only are they determined to succeed though. They are also determined to make this world a better place along the way!!! After everyone had their pictures we rode the last mile to the state line where Coleman greeting everyone with a high five, waving the Texas flag all the while. The whole team waited at the state line and we got an awesome team photo. SUS does a people pyramid! After lunch Prachi and I rode alone for a while climbing up and down hill after hill. Eventually Kelly, Jillian, Sonia and Tiffany caught up to us. More hills. Up and down. But I reached a new top speed of 27 mph going down hill! That was FUN. After arriving in Carthage we toured a museum, visited a chocolate shop, and then headed to lunch at a local mexican diner. Once again we sweep into a town and take over. 30 some young bikers in spandex!!! After lunch Kelly, Sonia and I decided to finish out the day together. The last 6 miles were the hardest. Arriving at the host was refreshing. this is our first home stay of the trip and it was very nice to be inside a house again. I met the family pet, a golden retriever named Digger. It's so nice being around dogs again. After everyone settled in we walked to the neighbors pool and everyone splashed around for a while. Dinner was a delicious mac and cheese with broccoli! After dinner we had another AH presentation and then I crashed for the night.
