Hello New Mexico
Waking up this morning was a beautiful thing. The air was crisp, it even had a chill to it and it immediately reminded me of my home state and all of the chilling training rides I did in Michigan to prepare for this journey! I have never been so happy to be cold in my life :) Tiff and I faced the day rolling out at the front of the pack. Then we followed our que sheet onto a dirt road with lots of bumps that were not kind to my lady parts. Eventually we ended up back on the smooth pavement. We started out slow but quickly started picking up the pace. I cannot even explain how refreshing this weather was!! Before we knew it we were the second group to roll into lunch! After fueling up on food and peeing behind a tarp we were ready to hit the road again. Kristina joined us for the second leg and told us that we were cruising at 20mph!!! The ride went by so quickly. We ended up finishing first!!!! That's right Dream Team crossed the state line into New Mexico first AND arrived at the host first! The beautiful thing about this is that you have time to explore the town and you get first dibs on the best sleeping spot :) After finishing the day's ride by 10 am we had lots of time for naps and lunch. After lunch I cleaned Fiona again and hung out with everyone. Mark and I exchanged shoulder rubs! I also talked someone into head scratches which are the best!!! Tiff made broccoli sandwiches for the veggies for dinner. Delicious. Other highlights of the day included yellow wild flowers lining the road all morning long. I love me some yellow flowers!!! A beautiful sky from grey to blue to pink throughout the day. Journal time and a ridiculous but adorable dog jewelry box from a fellow rider :) I am loving New Mexico and it's only the first day!!!
